Description de l'opportunité

Why volunteer with us:

  • Get hands-on training and facilitate real restorative justice circles with youth and families, mentored by staff who often started out as volunteers
  • Join a close-knit team that genuinely has each other's backs, this isn't just a volunteer gig, it's a community
  • Build a foundation for a career in youth work, social work, education, or justice, with real connections across schools, community organizations, and justice partners
  • Walk away with a reference and, when you're ready, a possible path to paid roles at Peacebuilders
  • Help keep young people in school and out of the justice system, one circle at a time
  • Be part of shifting how conflict gets handled in our communities, from punishment to repair

About the role:

Peacebuilders uses restorative justice to divert youth from the justice system and keep them engaged in school. As a Facilitator, you'll co-lead restorative circles with youth, families and schools across Toronto.

What you'll do:

  • Co-facilitate restorative circles with youth and families alongside a lead staff facilitator, moving toward leading your own once trained
  • Prep for each session by reviewing case background and meeting briefly with staff beforehand
  • Debrief after each circle to track outcomes and next steps for the youth involved
  • Join partner schools on a rotating basis to support youth engagement activities outside of formal circles

What you bring:

  • Some experience or strong interest in restorative practices, youth work, or facilitation
  • Comfort working with youth from diverse backgrounds
  • Reliability and a collaborative approach

Commitment: Approx. 12 hours per month, flexible week to week, 10-month season, rolling intake with start dates year-round.

Services sociaux et communautaires

Peacebuilders is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving access to justice for youth facing barriers and advocating for transformative changes within the justice and education systems.

In Canada, traditional punitive approaches in the youth justice system often perpetuate cycles of recidivism, failing to address the underlying causes of youth crime. At Peacebuilders, we champion a restorative approach that fosters social connection, supports youth rehabilitation and invests in building healthier, safer communities.

We believe that every young person deserves the chance to be heard, supported and empowered to reach their full potential.

Vision
A future where youth facing barriers can access justice, reach their full potential and contribute to safer, healthier communities.

Mission
To enhance the capacity of youth and the systems that support them, increase access to justice for youth facing barriers and utilize restorative practices to foster accountability, healing and growth.
