Peacebuilders is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving access to justice for youth facing barriers and advocating for transformative changes within the justice and education systems. In Canada, traditional punitive approaches in the youth justice system often perpetuate cycles of recidivism, failing to address the underlying causes of youth crime. We believe that every young person deserves the chance to be heard, supported and empowered to reach their full potential. Vision A future where youth facing barriers can access justice, reach their full potential and contribute to safer, healthier communities. Hands & Canvas is a youth-founded, volunteer-led initiative based in Toronto that makes art more accessible through free workshops, creative materials, and community projects. We believe cost should not prevent children and youth from exploring their creativity. We work with schools and community organizations to offer hands-on art activities that encourage experimentation, self-expression, and connection. Through our Beyond the Studio program, volunteers also create donated artwork, handmade gifts, colouring and activity pages, and art kits, with projects shaped around recipient organizations’ needs. We’re growing a network of volunteers and welcoming school, university, and community chapter leads across Canada. Volunteers can help organize workshops, coordinate creative donation projects, or contribute skills in communications, marketing, fundraising, and grant research. We provide guidance to help new leads get started and build relationships in their communities. Our work is guided by accessibility, inclusion, collaboration, and youth leadership. Whether someone enjoys making art, bringing people together, or supporting projects behind the scenes, we welcome their interest and willingness to learn.
